Creating futuristic sundown

To create a sundown we'll choose an image with a sea view.

The color gamma of this image doesn’t remind us a sundown, so let's use Matrix effect to change the color gamma.

After conversion of red and dark blue channels we have the following color gamma:

With the help of Replace Colors effect we’ll tone image down by replacing brown color with gray.

Using Local contrast we will select the white foam and the white clouds.

Now let's turn to the most important stage of the sun creation. Glow effect is ideal for such a purpose. But the question is, what color should be set as a glowing one? The sun must be located in one image point. But, in this case, every selected color is located at more than one point. Therefore, the best solution would be to create a glowing point. Let's use any selection tool and select a small area above the horizon, where we want to place the sun. Then we’ll replace the color of the selected area with a color different from all image colors.

For example, let’s select an area and change its color on pink using Bring To Colors effect.

Then, let’s use Glow effect for sun creation. As a glowing color we’ll set pink. We'll set the Glow by a complicated gradient and set the radius at maximum.

As a result of all transformations we have the following image:
